Needless to say I didn’t get much sleep the night before and rightfully so. On Friday yesterday, wind gusts were averaging 150 - 160Km/h! To top it all off, it lasted from 7am until 5pm. Heavy wooden chairs flew around, tree went down and slates were dangerously whistling. Finally power went out for a few hours. Needless to say that during all of this ordeal, my recently chimney mounted sirio 2008 roof aerial was dancing around like a frenzied voodoo woman and bending until I thought it was going to snap…couple of times I avoided looking at it for fear she was living her last moments. But in the end, it miraculously survived totally unscathed and now that the storm has subsided she’s proudly standing again, straight as an arrow as if nothing happened yesterday. I have to say that I am quite impressed by the wind resistance of those aluminium antennas. Sirio company were not lying when it said it could resist winds up to 130/150 Km/h! This one has definitely been put to the test! I was wondering if anyone has had the same luck…or not. Cheers and happy weekend.

Morning all
Came home from work last to find my antenna. . . . . .
. . . . .still standing but with some extra ground planes
The only problem I have is how am I going to untangle my neighbour's 2 TV aerial's, coax and pole from my T & K brackets
Wish me luck

All survived, top wind gust here was only 80kmh which surprised me, thought it was much stronger.

Took mine down as its only mounted on one bracket and soft bricks, so didnt want to chance it, however local Council Garages lost the third floor wall ! Good hearing peoples twigs met their design capabilities of wind resistance. https://www.cambridgeindependent.co.uk/news/storm-eunice-wall-collapses-in-cambridge-9241053/ pics courtsey of me.

80mph gusts here during Eunice, 50 to 60mph average, only the new antenna supports and the SG-235 on the tower to worry about.
The 4mm polypropylene rope is currently the 'antenna', and that has no centre support (used to design the antenna support on the tower for an actual wire), that was whistling last night, and instead of 9 inches from the tower is was about 5ft from it. The wire guyed 20ft Aluminium Scaffold at the southern end hardly moved at all, same with the 5ft section of Aluminium Scaffold on T&K at the northern end.
All has to come down anyway, hoping the weather improves, then I get to put antennas on it.
Glad to hear everyone seems to have survived the blow.

Glad to hear everyone has been more or less spared. But alas we face once again another round of this relentless storm!! Will it hold this time?…another stressful day…and sleepless night ahead

The coax gods above shone down on my beloved Sirio and she made it through apart from the slight bent turning tip (I have a replacement).Craziness or just plain ignorance I carried on regardless and had some fantastic QSO’s as Mother Nature tried her best to turn my vertical into a one element beam. 3 S0D 037,158 JR 727 (Dave’s cousin..lol) and 2 W 294. The conditions seem all stirred up as I was still talking to 2 Division’s at 10pm on Mids AM last night. Hope your all safe and sound and let’s get back to some normality. Cheers Tom. 26CT4029

Nice going there Tom, some great radio work.
Despite the storms swathing Europe there's been a bit of a good lift on 11m at times which unfortunately I was only able to SWL with my bit of wire strung around the shack. At least there was nothing to blow down.
Glad to hear everyone is well otherwise as a tree hit a double deck just down the road from us with luckily no injuries. A bus my wife is usually a passenger of!
Be careful out there everyone as there's been quite a few compromised structures and trees still falling.

That might only look a small damage but i bet it is an expensive fix. Todays storm Franklin is just as bad here overlooking the Irish sea. And it's bin day lol it's everywhere and it all ends up down the side of out bungalow. The boxes come in handy for storing stuff lol.

All of them survived, I did drop the scanner aerial at one point though as I could hear something rattling. The screw that holds the antenna in the mounting collar had worked itself loose.
