Hi im Jason from Aberdare South Wales. I used to have a fm cb in the 80s and just discovered the hobby again. It seems to have changed a little from the old days. My handle uses to be Rocket Robin. My new set up is a president randy 3 and a siro 4000 high power antenna. I understand we need a call sign now, so would be pleased if you could issue me with one. Thanks Jason

Hi Jason,
Welcome to Charlie Tango.
Glad to hear that you've rediscovered the radio interest and I hope you enjoy your comeback to it all.
Many use call signs on the CB airwaves nowadays although it's not actually a requirement but can just be simply very helpful. Some areas with local contact and activity still use the old 'handle' system and many just use their first names, there are also those that choose to construct their own call sign as well. You are actually free to choose whatever you'd like to do.
However, having a call sign recognised internationally can be very handy for when working DX which is more likely as we ramp up the current solar cycle and many have already been enjoying 'skip' conditions on the CB frequencies.
A call sign issued here (for free!) would take the format of a country code prefix, CT for the group and a membership number which would greatly assist the DX station you are contacting.
Plus it can just be great to be part of a recognised group and use call signs anyway.
With that said, (I hope helpfully), your forum profile is complete ready for call sign allocation so just keep an eye on this posting for when our admin Gary comes along to issue you one.
All the best, Victor
