ok so over the few months now that i have been back on channel i have noticed that there is a guy who is always on channel around tea time (between 6/7 ) and from the word go he is using foul language he is obviously not a young guy he has a really gravelly voice and even when women are on he acts the same  i think he is fairly local   who  comes on channel 19 and just stays there like a lot do these days when he talks every other word has  an f in it or worse i think it is not wanted or needed so when he comes on i switch off for an hour or so till he has gone  Evil or Very Mad

Hello ... Yes this happens everywhere & always will be some rear cases ... Some times propagation brings a person at ch19 down here to Greece (also mornings) maybe is the one you mentioned, but also i can hear few others from time to time at different channels with bad lang.
If your cb  has RFGain try turn it on & adjust it till cut him, instead of switching off (or with the squelch may help as well)

Local is CB very quiet around here. When the short skip rolls in though, so does some effing and jeffing. CB has always had a variety of users from all walks of life and with that comes the way each speaks.

If that tone of worded speech is not for you, then you're doing the right thing by turning off for a bit or switching channel. Back in the day the young childish me might of switched on a B550p and spoke over them in the Queen's English. Nowadays I sometimes do what you do, but more often no matter what language is being used, I leave on channel just to listen as it's a break from the silence here.

Every radio has a big dial so that you can change channel or frequency....

Unfortunately Lionel we will always come across people "broadcasting" on the radio with either language or opinions that we don't agree with such is the variety of the human population.

No point arguing or attempting to dissuade them either, turn the big dial or the smaller one with the 'OFF' switch.

In the old days it wasn't unusual to have a separate or local 'calling channel' to avoid the 19-Hoggers, in my area back in the day it was channel 22. If you call out long enough someone else will come across you and it doesn't take much before other locals call on the same channel. You can guarantee the more facetious individuals will find it too but they will struggle being on two channels at once! Wink
