Hi, I don't know a lot about it, I had one briefly but found it limiting on the frequencies I wanted to monitor, but the Ranger model is a improve model from what you might of had 25yrs ago lol, from what I remember it pulls 5amps so a 3amp power supply wont cut it. good for mobile as the scan is good on it and very quick on your saved frequencies.
I found a link that gives you more info and Mods etc that are or were available. Hope this helps.

Never had a 3a or 5amp power supply at any time. When i was last on i had been doing repairs for many years and my last psu was around 25amp. Got a 35amp one now but have no intention of getting back into repairing them again all my gear went along with my first wife lol.

I have the RCI 2950DX and it goes from 24.xxx MHz to 31.xxx MHz and it has 25 W on SSB. Good radio.

Last week bought a second RCI 2950DX and it goes from 24.xxx MHz to 31.xxx MHz as yours does. This one was faulty and turned out to be a bad solder joint as i thought from what the seller described to me. The frequency mod is just a jumper or 2 if you want very easy to do.
