Hi all, I've got the above radio and have been searching the internet for information on this about what size fuse to use in the power cable, not having much luck in search but have found that as in standard mode it uses a 2 amp fuse but was wondering what fuse it would use in multimode ? as I'm not sure and was wondering if it would use a 5 amp or a 7 amp fuse ? Any help would be very much appreciated.
didn't know whether to post here or in Information and Guides so sorry admin if in wrong area.

Hi Les,
As you rightly say the standard fuse is 2 Amperes as mentioned in the user manual :-
So long as it hasn't been "tweaked" or modified to push more power out that's more than sufficient whatever mode you're in. (Ohms Law doesn't work straight off here and most don't comprehend the difference between transmission mode efficiency let alone P.E.P. or peak envelope power.)
I've seen too many radios with larger fuses fitted which is fine until the fateful day you connect it reverse polarity and the 'protection' diode blows before the fuse does!!
I wouldn't worry about where you've posted - here is as good a place as any.
All the best, Victor

Thank you Victor, i have bought many radio's and I've always checked the inline fuse as some radios I've purchased had 5 amp and 10 amp fuses in them. as i'm aware the nato has not been tweaked or modified for more power. Once again Thank you

You're more than welcome Les, a nice straight answer for a straight forward question.
I've seen more than my fair share of radios with fuses that had silver paper wrapped around them!!!
