Good afternoon all
Firstly as many others have said thanks to Fred in the shed for getting me to fall back in love with CB again. Currently I don’t not own a rig but looking to get back into it but a little hesitant as not sure how many contacts will be around in the area. I am in Great Yarmouth Norfolk was on in the 90s as a teen and enjoyed it.
Depending how I get on may look in the future to ham radio
Please let me know if you in the area that way I have an idea if it’s worth investing again.

Welcome to Charlie Tango.
We have had members here from your neck of the woods but I couldn't tell you how many are actively on air. CB radio has changed a lot in different areas with some having enough people on air to make simple AM/FM setups enjoyable but mostly the changes have been towards SSB or sideband rigs. The latter makes it easier for further distance contacts and of course the inevitable DX activity.
I wish you well with your planned return to the airwaves and hope it all works out for you.

thank you for the welcome and the information
yes agree with you regarding SSB units this is the way I think I will go, been looking at the SS 6900 N, seen a few youtube videos about them and they seem to bring some of the old school CB stile, not so much menu related and more of the dials with a LCD display showing Feq and still has Ch numbers.
only had the FM when i was on in the 90s so would be good to get on the SSB for a try.
well we will see what's about and i hope ill soon request a call sign.
