Subject: Homebrew 2m/70cm Dipole Antenna Sun Mar 19, 2023 9:35 pm
Following on from my PMR446 Antenna I decided to try my hand at constructing a 2m/70cm Vertical Dipole Antenna. 3mm stainless steel rod was used for the antenna arms and various other bits and pieces I had laying around in my shed were used to complete the build. I still need to construct a better designed mast but the one I cobbled together worked fine to test the antenna. SWR for 2m calling frequency was a near perfect 1:1 SWR for 70cm calling frequency and PMR446 approx 1:1.5 which I believe is acceptable.

Looking good Derek.
Once you start building antennas there's no stopping and they'll grow in number until you have quite a collection of them!
Thanks for posting.
All the best, Victor

Looks good and I'm sure it tested well, especially when you have it on it's new mast which I expect will be a little higher.
I have a lot of antennas to build and have been waiting for an improvement in the weather. Now the clocks have changed, we have lighter evenings. So when it stops raining I'll be throwing lots of wire and aluminium skywards.
