Hi Everyone - I'm Alex from Ipswich, Suffolk (but previously from Caversham, Reading) - been interested in radio since a very young age (both broadcast and communications, was a CB user back in the 80s, and on occasions even a pirate broadcaster/DJ on Band II!). Also been a scanner enthusiast for a few years (particularly in the 90s), where I live I can still monitor marine VHF which is still active, and living near the North Sea means tropo brings in Europe on Band II (I like to listen to keep up my language skills, can understand French, Dutch and German)
Today I volunteer at the local community radio station as a broadcast engineer (helped them relocate the whole studios in 2012) and as part of my work have set up licenced PMR systems (UHF handhelds and POCSAG pager TXs - I have an Ofcom Suppliers Light licence to legally test and configure these and get site licences for the businesses that use the kit). Now considering returning to the hobby side of radio comms, with a bit of 446 DXing and maybe even 11m now SSB is (finally!) legal - (if I can find a way of preventing a magmount potentially scratching up my car paintwork, another hobby of mine is car detailing!)
Please can I request a callsign?

The Sirio mag-mounts come with a rubber boot that sits between the mount and the paint to prevent scratching. I understand your concerns as detailing is another hobby of mine, too.
