Subject: Very happy with my first contact outside the UK Tue Jul 04, 2023 8:32 pm
Hi All, Some of you will have seen my post relating to my home-made Delta Loop antenna and that I was having some doubts about its performance. Well on Friday night I had a contact into Scotland which made me very happy and then tonight I had a very nice contact into Italy. The contact was with 1AN448 Paolo who after having heard him several times seems to run standard power straight out of the radio. I figured I'd give him a try and bingo he heard me well enough to exchange equipment details, my location and my unusual name!
Italy may not be anything unusual to most of you but for me after 30 years of being away has me totally made up.

How awesome is that? Continental action after 30 years away and with a home made antenna to boot. Absolutely awesome stuff!
I remember only too well the thrill I had gaining such contacts after a similar time away from CB. Bask in your own glory at your fabulous attempts and your tenacity at sticking with it all. I can almost feel your smiles from here.

Very well done Lynton. As Victor, and I am sure many other people here, I remember those first contacts of mine after coming back to CB after a very long time too. Such an exciting time!
I do feel a number of people have given up after coming back to it, with no one local and no DX working for them. Get your message out there to others... If at first you don't succeed, build yourself a Delta Loop and never stop trying, and one day you will be rewarded
