Good evening chaps.

I wonder if you can help.

I have several cb radios that when plugged into my thunderpole 5/8 give me little to no qrm yet my 6900v gives about S6 of background noise.

I have tried running it on a battery with the house electrics off and I still get a solid s5 of noise proving there's very little coming from my house .

I have tried my harrier cbx, team euro 3100 and a new thunderpole t800 and there's no qrm at all.

I also don't think I'm losing any incoming signal, it just seems like the 6900 signal meter is overly sensitive. The RF gain helps a lot, the noise blocking buttons don't do a great deal but it's a cheap radio I guess.

I have also tried ferrite rings on the coax and power cables, no difference.

Anyone have this problem?

Many newer radios have this issue when operating from home due to all the electrical interference these days. The radios are super sensitive which is a good thing especially when you are away from built up areas.

Best thing to do is back off the rf-gain a little to reduce the background noise without spoiling incoming signals.

Thanks DelBoy, I thought that might be the case. Until recently I always left the RF gain on full, funny what you learn after years of thinking you know.

Leaving the RF Gain knob in the 3 o'clock position should work. Wink
