This may be a silly question but...... Is there an , antenna that tunes from the radio.? If so recommendations please. I am asking because with my silver rod 1/2 wave , if I need to re- tune its a case of taking it down from roof and tuning. I'm not keen on heights , especially in winter weather. I have a ss9900. Thank you

Sirio gainmaster. My covers 26MHZ to 29mhz with a perfect SWR and no messing about with it. Chuck it up and use it.

Do you use a separate SWR ? mine is built-in on the ss9900. Thank you for your reply.

No antenna will tune from the radio unless ????. You have an HF radio with an auto-tuner built in and that will tune some antennas. 26MHz to 29MHz with a perfect SWR now that i would like to see 10m and 11m in one.

I say perfect but 26.000 is about 1.3 and 29.000 is about 1.4 and pretty flat on 27.000 so perfectly usable and thats not using the built in SWR meter which I never trust.

I've decided to go down the antenna matcher/ tuner route. Thanks guys. If you have any options on matcher/ tuner , please let me know.

Nightprowler. Thanks for advice, checked out sirio antenna. Not for me / my set up as my silver rod is adequate. Thanks anyway.

You dont want to go down the matcher route if you can help it silver rods are notorious for filling with water

What would happen to the matcher then?

Nothing would happen to the matcher. Matchers and auto-tuners only fool the radio to thinking is is getting a perfect SWR the don't tune the aerial at all.

Oh, so what is the point of a matcher then?

It matches the 50ohm that the radio wants to see from the aerial as a perfect SWR
