Hello all,

I'm interested in getting back into CB radio.. I'm in my 50's (age) now and had a CB in the late 70's (year!)..

In the old days we had an Arial mounted on top of an old metal biscuit tin.. is this something I can replicate at home in the man room A.K.A the loft room.. I don't really want to mount a pole to my bungalow as yet.. just something I can put up and take down whenever.. and use at home.. I don't mind opening the loft window and throwing an aerial out onto the room or mounting to the velux window bay via a clamp of some sort..

What would anyone recommend as a bigger set up.. I don't really want to spend more than say £100 - £150 all in in case I get bored and frustrated pretty quickly..

Website links to individual or sets would be great..

Many thanks in advance for any advice offered..

JB

I have used a mobile antenna (thought a Sirio stinger), mounted on some kind of tripod which provided the radials and a screw on the bottom to adjust the SWR. Don't know what brand it was, but it just stood on the flat roof of my garage and gave satisfactory results (not for DX however). Will try and find it again and post a pic.
