I'm Tom (old CB handle was Blackdog) was into cbs back in the early 80's... then life got in the way, as it does. Now in late 50's and my interest has peaked so taking the next step and buying one. Last few years have been dabbling in various 'cheap' handheld radios... with little success due to living in a black spot. Anyway, thanks for the welcome.

(Would be well worth looking into SSB rigs for a future purchase especially with the DX activity we've seen on the current solar cycle. )

Hi Tom,

You will find an ssb radio will give you much greater potential to make more contacts. It is the mode of choice when dxing.

Today I was shocked to get a dx from Germany from near  York UK, homemade t2lt on a 10m pole, president grant 2 ssb lsb ch38, kl203p linear
Only just got into it and first use in my grant
