I've dug out as above radio and it works fine it's a 4 Band A B C D version with low lows on the NB switch, Bleep switched on the ANL switch sounds like a Nato bleep. All reports I've had say the Audio sounds good so happy with that.
Just one problem the Squelch THUMP! so can someone with knowledge please advise if there is a way to fix this please. any input would be greatly received many thanks.
Cheers and Beers

Hello there ,sorry to say it's the nature of the beast to do it lol ,I've had two of those over the years and both did it ,back when I had them there was alot more radio doctors about to do the mod on them which sorry I dont know how to do, TBH I just left it and got use to it , the thing is there is not many rig doctors about now and some might not want to work on those because of the size of it plus postage cost both ways and parts for those are getting very rare like its cousin the Jumbo which has the same problem, the only rig Dr's I know who might and i say might are a guy call "Cubwolf"(who is said to specialise in these radios ie: Excalibur, Ham Jumbo, and Maco versions) and "Black Spirit" who also is a well respected rig doctor, the thing is they both dont come on this forum anymore thay mainly to be found on Transmission 1 forum, hope this helps

There is a very easy solution, just solder a 1uF electrolytic between the base and collector of Q27, on a 125/131 board (Q25 on a 133), it won't eliminate it altogether but it's a whole lot better. Pics below to help.
