Hi
After my first ever contact DX... I am thinking of the Sirio 827...I am told that the aerial is the most important thing when trying to reach DX stations... conditions allowing...
So for DXing the Sirio 827 and local contacts the Venom Silver Rod...
I have to say that I was dubious about CB but this group has given me such good advice that I am exceeding my expectations after only a few days.
DX to Portugal on my first ever contact was stunning and totally unexpected... but I followed the advice given in my post and was rewarded.
My thanks again to those who posted tips and info.

Well done Nick , hopefully the first of many for you as the solar cycle starts to lift. Any 11m aerial if setup right will work DX with a few exceptions everyone has their own opinion on which one is best, a bit of research on your part and budget restrictions will usually lead to a choice. Welcome to your new addiction may it bring you hours of fun and enjoyment. Worked two Latvian stations and a Portuguese station myself this afternoon and still get a buzz even after forty odd years of DXing. 73s Steve.

Thank you for the post Steve. It is so good to know that there are people working DX. For me it would be very welcome to have a group so that the stronger stations can real the contacts in allowing new people like me to experience a QSO. Listening has and still is my main past time but I do like to venture the odd QSO when brave enough. It is a wonderful world populated with many very helpful people.

The 827 is a cracking vertical antenna and should do you proud , will soon be sporadic E season where 11m will really open up to the rest of EU , expect some really strong signals 30db plus

welcome along chasing DX is fun .
I do have a sirio 2016 here that in the box and only been up for 2 months at the most . I have my ham ticket so got a few other antennas up so its for sale if after something ? Its a 5/8 wave like the 827 and electrically it has the same radial sytem as the 827 . angle of radiation is pretty low which gives you a longer hop distance .
just thought may save you some cash if after a 5/8 wave.

The vertical will cover all of Europe & beyond when conditions are good, For even further a field and to turn away from 'noise' have you room for a small beam to go up?

I have helped put a couple of these up over the years and they are quite heavy and put a fair deal of strain/wind load on the mounting pole so be aware. Ive seen a few fall due to the pole bending but a decent scaffold pole should do the trick.
The 827 is heavier than the Vector 4000 i use by just over 1 kg so be prepared to flex those muscles..
They work well though..

Siro 827 is a great antenna had one for many years now. Need to support it well though. Well made and made to last.
