You are welcome, Max. I should have noticed you are in Ireland, as you say it is illegal there too. I think it is illegal in most parts of the world, I know it certainly is in the states. OFCOM haven't the time, money or resources to investigate it here.

Heres a bit of usless radio trivia John mate and anyone else who might be interested from me "the man of useless trivia " LOL, did you know even FM is is illegal to use in the U.S that's why you never see a U.S spec radio with it fitted, plus as for T5 that was first set up by the Alpha Tango Groupe Italia as the international calling channel when they also first set up all the division numbers for each country back in the late 80s early 90s that's why Italy is 1 division lol I think the U.S wanted to be division 1 as CB was a American thing so they settled for being 2 division, also as far as know 27:555 Brazil is the only country that it is a legal frequency , there ya go a bit of useless trivia radio info .

A few weak Italian stations coming in now on 27.555, mostly unreadable here on the West of Ireland Atlantic coast. I wish the guy whistling for long periods, including whistling morse code to get attention would quit doing it.

You always get the idiot doing morse on T5 , yes we all know its freeband so as such anything goes but be real who really wants morse on freeband nobody I know of ,it should be left on the Amateur bands were it belongs

Tuesday all afternoon 13/10 was just great on the European DX channels left and right of 27.555 - at least where I am in the West of Ireland. The Netherlands, Belgium and Italy (including the whistlers) all very strong. The Netherlands was so strong that I had to put in the 20 dB receive attenuation on my FT-7B.
Some whistling Italian(s) heard on 555 just now today (13:00), so maybe it will open up again for the afternoon. Unfortunately I can't transmit right now because I'm still making my magnetic loop antenna.

Very faint stations for me in Finland on 27.555 and on mids, local ssb/usb working well.

OK, so this afternoon's offerings on the Euro DX frequencies around 555 turned out to be a bit of a flash-in-the-pan. Just a couple of very weak signals heard here in the W. of Ireland.

Same here Martin, dead as the proverbial Dodo! (Been like that for weeks, but we got spoiled on the summer skip!)
Of course, I could now join the 'jerrys' on 80m, DX competition on 40m, the 'cha-cha-cha-cha' picket fencing on VHF/UHF mobiles, but the rest of the bands are as dead as 27MHz......so much for getting my ticket eh?
Ha! Gotta laugh
Luckily I've got one or two other hobbies I can get on with......just as well really
Keep that chin up Martin!

The radio gods have got a sick sense of humour John. Either working hard and no time for the radio, or having all the time and nothing of interest on the radio!
I agree John, do like Martin's Midland, cracking rig

I like your Lincoln MK1 as well Martin
I'm hoping we get some good conditions come up on 27MHz as despite having access to the Ham bands now, CB still excites the heck out of me!

I hope so too Victor mate ,27mhz has been dead too long IMHO I know people been hearing the occasional little bit of Spain and Italy, France and the same old same old networks about and to the newer CBer that must be exciting, but not being big headed when theres CBers like us who have as they say been there done it got the t-shirt, with all that stuff it does get a bit boring, I really cant wait, if its gonna happen again that is for those real far off copies we use to get or the obscure ones that we got now and then ,please no offense to anyone who is pleased with CB how it is now if you're enjoying it I'm happy for you but Victor knows what I mean, when you've been around CB as long as we have and many other members on here you would understand.

Ha!
Isn't it funny how you feel we've got to apologise for our CB experiences Martin?
When a good 'skip' season is in you can chat to the states on the proverbial piece of wet string.
Of course no one believes you, they've got the best 5/8ths antenna, the best rig money can buy, the best mic, 1:1 SWR, etc. etc. and either struggle into the 'local' net or chuffed to bits at getting Alfonso on the 555 with his beam and 1500w burners.
They'll be chuffed no doubt and why not too.
But it was something else when we sat on our cr*ppy AM rigs back in the day, magmount scratching the paintwork on your Dad's old Cortina and with 4 watts of mid-band AM chatted to a trucker in the States or the farmer in Kentucky.
It was all down to that fantastic sunspot we had back then..... let's hope this coming cycle is a good one too. (We've had some disappointing ones up to now!)
If it is as good and exciting as back then, we can have a whole new generation of CBers who won't be believed in the future either
Mother nature dictates the conditions, not how much money you throw at your gear. Dedication is not turning your rig on every so often for a few months but sticking with it for years, possibly decades.
Here's hoping us old b*ggers make it to the peak of the next sunspot and that it's as good as the one we so fondly remember.

I hope so too Victor we will be still about LOL, I think I apologise is there use to be some on here( I dont know if they still are but dont care really ) thought I was "Mr Downer" on CB because I use say the truth about about certain things about what is happening in CB now and I use get shouted down saying I'm disaluding new breakers and I dont know what I'm talking about ,this was coming from people who thought running there local net talking to same people every week and maybe getting a new station every other week or a Euro station calling in was the highlight of CB LOL ,so I watch my words now and try and be a bit P.C....

Ha! Ha!
You keep being as straight laced as you are Martin, I for one appreciate it like mad mate!
We currently live in an age where everyone seems to get offended by the slightest flipping thing or worse still when having to face certain truths You can't even genuinely help someone nowadays without them flying off the handle......
We had it good back then Martin, let's hope we get to see it again......then we can sit knowingly with the "Told you so".

Alan , I got myself going to my shack once every couple of weeks now , cos everytime I use go every other day/evening I use to hear nothing so I used get fed up , but over the years I cant get use to how quiet and dead it is around my area in London I'm not in the outskirts either I'm in a very built up area of North London ,when I think how busy it was just on normal 40 channel UKFM not even mentioning SSB that was mega busy about 10 year ago you had someone on every channel even the 19 idiots where actually funny and even back in the illegal days in the 70s it was busy in North London ,now it's a ghost town and still is, theres not even idiots on the 19 anymore at least if they was on you would know ya radio was working lol come to think of it even this forum was much more lively when I first joined
