Hi all dose anybody help me with my superstar 6900n it says it does 40 watts on FM in the manual but when I put it on full and look at my wattmeter it only comes up at 20w just a bit weird I thought it does 20w on SSB can somebody help thanks Neil7up

Hi Neil from looking in the manual it says AM/FM/CW - 12 w and SSB - 21w hope this helps 73's Glen
Sorry ignore that, I have looked at my paper manual that came with the radio and it actually says
my original comment was from looking at the online copy I downloaded

Hi thanks for getting back to me that's weird l email the company I got it from says it does 40 watts on FM 20 watts on SSB I I know the older model didn't have so much power at the new one and I have the new one went onto the website Modes: AM/FM/USB/LSB/CW/PA OUTPUT POWER: 12w AM 40w FM ‑ 30w SSB l don't know what going on thanks

It might be that it has been turned down inside, maybe by the previous owner if it was used or the shop if it was new.
The have a habit of going pop when run at 40w FM and the supplier might be fed up with getting returns which have blown output transistors.

you might have the low power version just use a good kicker and run the radio allot less watts and radio stays unstressed kicker gets warm put a fan on the kicker every one happy
