Subject: Bending a Mobile Whip Antenna Wed Nov 25, 2020 9:47 pm
This is relating to a dual band 1.3M long mobile antenna.
Because this is on my commercial vehicle the only place I can mount a through body antenna is just above the windscreen on the roof where the roof angle is apx 12-15 degrees.
Question is, because the mounted base coil will lean forward the 12-15 degrees, would it be very detrimental to bend the whip upright?
The antenna is a Diamond SG-7700.
I wont do mag mounts.
Thanks in advance.

We could all pontificate the apparent effects of doing such a thing to an antenna.....some might even try to 'model' it on their computer
I'd personally give it a go and see how it works out for you.
Whenever I 'think' too much about doing something it never gets done, so often I throw caution to the wind and just do it.

Thanks guys.
Back in the day we'd throw anything up or at times 'make do'. Thing with getting old is to pontificate!
Ordered a Diamond SG-7700 Dual band and will let you know what happens. Thanks again.
