Subject: Bending a Mobile Whip Antenna Wed Nov 25, 2020 9:47 pm
This is relating to a dual band 1.3M long mobile
antenna. Because this is on my commercial vehicle the only place I can mount a through body antenna is just above the windscreen on the roof where the roof angle is apx 12-15 degrees. Question is, because the mounted base coil will lean forward the 12-15 degrees, would it be very detrimental to bend the whip upright? The antenna is a Diamond SG-7700. I wont do mag mounts. Thanks in advance.

We could all pontificate the apparent effects of doing such a thing to an
.....some might even try to 'model' it on their computer
I'd personally give it a go and see how it works out for you.
Whenever I 'think' too much about doing something it never gets done, so often I throw caution to the wind and just do it.

Back in the day we'd throw anything up or at times 'make do'. Thing with getting old is to pontificate! Ordered a Diamond SG-7700 Dual band and will let you know what happens. Thanks again. Sponsored content
