Hi Guys
Looking for reccomendations for a 2/3 way Antenna switch , i am looking to use it for connecting 1 antenna to 2/3 rigs , using 100 watts maximum output power.
I have tried a zetagi which works ok on low power ie 25 watts , but is no good at 25 watts plus , i have also tried a CX201 ,  the loss on RX is unaccepatable , ie a S7 and radio 5 without the switch in line , becomes a S2 and radio 3
when used inline.
I probably have a budget of £100

Hi Neil,

Always a minefield, looking for recommendations. Wink

I don't think I've seen a single modern antenna switch that hasn't had some complaint or other. Most forums are full of recommendations and many have tales of woe also.
I know I'd hate to have to try and repair a modern coax switch, (some right weird parts and arrangements in many of them), and I'd be a bit upset constantly buying new replacements too!

If you're up for a bit of 'homebrew' you can make pretty good switches yourself. Not only that, but if you've made it yourself you can always repair it should the need arise.

Check out the following link for a typical example :-

Might not be what you're after, but always worth a thought.

All the best,
Victor

Hi Victor
Thanks for the link , will give this serious thought , not really in to home brew equipment , but it might be a good time to start

No worries Neil.

I know Amateur Radio is not always about home-brew nowadays but there's still some fairly easy projects that give great satisfaction. The individual parts for such an item might be the equivalent of a purchased unit, (much lower end though!), but can often outperform items costing way more and give you better service life.

Best of luck with your antenna switch search.

(Oh, and if you do home-brew one you can happily share your results here. I'm always up for a 'pat on the back' for such things. Smile)

73,
Victor
