thermo switch for my amp

Hi guys I have a RM mod 500 amp and when I'm using it on usb
on full power it gets a little warm lol so have added 2 pc cooling
fans to help,,, they work great but I have them on a manual switch
to turn them on when required,,, its all working great but I have 
been thinking if I could add a thermo switch maybe I could loose
the manual switch. can anyone point me in the direction for 
such a switch that will do the job?

Hi Terry,

There are a couple of options available to you.

One is to buy a fan temperature control unit which will be a electronics board having a temperature sensor and often a display where you can set a temperature along with a relay output for controlling the fan. These can be found on places like eBay often for under a tenner especially if you wait on a boat from China.

The other and simplest option is to buy a thermal switch device such as the KSD-01F. This does come in different specifications and you'll be wanting a N/O or normally-open device along with a temperature specification. I'd suggest maybe the 60'C version which will kick in the fan at that temperature comfortably in a home environment but will ensure that if you have it installed in a vehicle the fan won't flatten your battery on a hot summers day(!)
