Subject: Best Coax? Tue Mar 30, 2021 8:00 pm
I am just fixing my antenna to the top of the house and was wondering what peoples opinions are on the best coax to run, the run will be approx 25 metres TIA

I presume you are talking about 11 metres so I will answer on that assumption IMO RG213 and use compression fittings PL259s to help keep water out. If it is higher frequencies (eg 2m, 70cms PMR446) then you will need better coax

Yes sorry, I should have said 11m, and thanks the RG213 is what I was looking at just wanted to make sure I was on the right track.

A suggestion, wind a choke as near to the aerial as you can. To do it now would save faffing about later and keeps RF off the outside of the braid

Yes, I agree regarding RG213, it should be fine on a 25m run.
Note that PL259s aren't waterproof at all, even the compression ones, though I agree that compression or crimp fittings are the best ones. The water enters the plug via the thread onto the socket by capillary action, so always best to use self amalgamating tape around the whole thing.
Even better use an N type connector with a compression fitting. There is a seal inside the plug at the top of the thread making the whole thing waterproof. They're at bit of overkill RF-wise for 11m, but way, way better than the Godawful PL259 all round.
