Two 991's? Bit flash.
I love the 878 though...and over here, it does our UHF CB allocation too.

The 991a's one of them came with problems so a big gamble but it paid off. Why o why do people mess with firmware ,,,,, Lucky me LOL. Got the 878-II Plus for £80 as new in the box with PTT button and all the rest. The rt3s came with the wrong firmware in it and seller thought it was a brick but you can put the wrong one all day it don't brick just put the correct one in and away you go. A lot to learn for me anyway this DMR plus i have to use a pi-star hotspot all new to me. Getting there i think lol.

Tidier than mine at the moment Alan.....
Cables and VHF sets galore in my attempts to pick up the International Space Station SSTV signals and after four orbits I didn't get one complete picture!!
Won't be writing that one up anytime soon.
(It all looked so easy too!)

Ha! Ha! You've got more faith in me Alan than I have in myself!
Still, it was fun and taught me something new. I'll check the orbits later and see if I've got another chance before it all finishes tomorrow.
BTW, loving the 'twins'! I would put up with the messiest shack in the world to be in your boat.

Scruffy sod Alan, I still regret selling my 991A such a great radio, often maligned it seems to me. I’ve actually told the lad I sold it to that I want it back when he’s bored of it, lol.

I'm jealous of your mess, I don't own enough equipment to have a mess Some nice looking radios. What is the older looking one on the right with the sloped face?

SangueG It's an old marine radio. Not often i put it on but it does work and where we live is overlooking the Irish sea and Holyhead port.

Getting there Alan mate.
(Still loving the 'twins'! )
My shack looks like there's been an earthquake at a second hand radio warehouse!! Trying to tidy it feels like I've turned up to an earthquake aftermath with a dustpan and brush!
The station manager calls it the 'skip' rather than the 'shack'.......

Shak is not big enough to take a better picture and get the pc in as well but to the left is a 24" touch screen Dell. And the 5 set's of shelving well daren't take a picture of them lol. New addition today in between the twins is a MAT-30 Antenna Tuner bought on a whim as i have 3 already but i was very surprised how well it works. Takes about 2 seconds to tune the cobweb on the 11m band.

The MAT-30's work well Alan. I've got one, or had one......it was given to me in bits, burned out with half the bits missing! Got a nice box out of it though and the toroid cores were used to make my manual ATU.
Glad you're getting on well with the cobweb mate.

Forgot to say about the tuner. I had the LDG YT-1200 hooked up before this mat-30 and it had a fit if i tried to tune on 11m band. This mat-30 is staying for the foreseeable it's so quick just press tune on the radio and it sounds like a crafty f@rt and it's tuned lol.( i do have a good way of explaining things don't i lol)...

Ha! Ha! Those relays do rattle a bit mate.
Mine was just a bunch of some useful parts donated after the owner changed bands and keyed up at full power on his long wire.....rattle, rattle, smokey, pffzzt!!

I must say, it makes me feel so much better when I see I am not the only one with the shack a little disorganized but functional, I liked the look of the 991a myself I just took an 857D as it came up for grabs locally. I have the best of intentions, it just never seems to work out that way...

Very 'modern' Ham radio type of stuff with multiple colour screens on display.
