Subject: Anyone up for a radio check? East Yorkshire Hull Thu Jul 15, 2021 10:14 pm
Hello there and good evening all.
Anyone up for a radio check to see how far I can reach? I'm based on the outskirts of Hull about 90ft with a base station.
Broadcasting on 27.555 between 2200 and 2230 tonight.
Long shot with no lift on but fun to see.

Try again when the propagation is a bit better,I would have tried but I just read the post..lol Also a great excuse for more wind I suppose.

Hi David. As John said, been dead quiet last few evenings skip wise, at least down here in mid Cotswolds anyway. When it's quiet like that you can sometimes get quite far without skip.. there's a station from Grimsby I can occasionally just about hear, that's 150 miles from me and my antenna's on the flat side!
There's a question in the foundation schedule that reads...
HF propagation is NOT affected by the A. sun B. time of day C. day of the week D. frequency used
...they have answer as C, but I recon they've got that wrong as the activity always seems to pick up on weekends. *I know it's C, just having a laugh.
Fingers crossed it'll pick up this evening or over weekend. I'll keep a listen out, you never know what might come through if the wind's in the right direction

I can usually hear Hull from just north of Driffield at Octon mobile when I get up on the hill. I can just about pick up Hull from home but high noise levels make it hard.
