coax - Coax damage Empty
PostSubject: Coax damage   coax - Coax damage Icon_minitimeTue Jan 18, 2022 10:02 am

My 28MHz vertical wasn't working this morning. Baffled as it was fine yesterday so I decided to investigate. Some animal has chewed the cable in two. Either a fox or a badger I guess.

I muttered some fairly rude words under my breath. Now to run electricity down to the mast - it would have to be by the mast - and solder on some plugs to splice the cable.

Sorry to hear about your coax woes there Roger and hope you managed to get it spliced up.

Back in my CB days I had some coax that I noticed lashed around banging on the antenna pole when windy and thought "I'll have to fix that one these days....". Of course I never did until the coax shredded so badly the SWR shot up! Very Happy

I've had 'animal chews' on cables myself and soon learned that a length of corrugated plastic piping can go a long way. They still chew it but at least it's the pipe and not the cables/coax within. coax - Coax damage 1f44d
