I bought my radio from Knights and it came pre-programed so they said i don't need a cable. I turned the radio on and the uk 40 is all messed up, if i reset the radio will i still have the uk 40? Thanks

Hi Darren, no I'm afraid if you reset the U.K. 40 will be gone. You will need the cable and the data file and software to re install the config.

If i have the frequency showing then go to channels they don't correspond, so i don't have a clue what's gone wrong. I'm use to a channel selector not a frequency display, although i do like it, i have to go to channel 1 then frequency then input the frequency in then do the same for the rest. Thank you so much for the reply, i sort of thought that what would happen. Thank you Gary

Hi Darren, Yes it can be a bit confusing at first. I assume that when you first got the radio they did correspond? Are you sure you are on the right block of frequencies the U.K ones will all end in '125' I'm wondering if you're on the mid block or any other block programmed in. We have a frequency chart but I can't find it at the moment so not sure it's posted on the forum yet. Have a little look here I'm sure Del won't mind this will assist you as to what your radio should be roughly programmed like. https://delboyonline.blogspot.com/p/cb-radio-frequency-list.html If you get really stuck have a chat with Doug at Knights and he'll get you sorted. Good luck!
Best 73's Gary.

I've manually imputed the frequencies and they were all mixed up. Now they end with 125. I'm going to look at the chart and see if the rest are the same? Thanks for taking the time Gary, really appreciate it.

Hi Alan, usually when you buy the radio the supplier will provide you a copy of the programming software for your P.C. and the saved data file of the channel config. It's good practice to make your own copy when you get a new radio just in case you need to re install it in the future. You can create your own using the P.C. software but that's a bit of a drag! If anyone on here has a file perhaps they can offer to send it to you? If not contact your radio supplier and ask them for a copy. You need use a P.C. and software to re install it though. Good luck!

Hi again and a big thanks for the reply's. Bought the set second hand and bought the cable separate. Cable came with a link to the software to download witch i have done. It's when i started looking around i see this file mentioned so i thought i would ask as it's new to me plugging them into a pc. When i was last on i used to add the mid block for people add alpha's to the ssb set's and so on but i needed a soldering iron not a pc lol. Will keep reading.

Hi Gary
I've noticed in the settings it says channel or frequency and if it's set on frequency the chanels won't go up or down. If it's set to channels and you're on the frequency and you go up or down the frequency the chanels will go up or down. I think because its a ham radio a lot will use frequency and cber's will use channels but if you click on the frequency numbers you can really mess it up. The frequency counter for the old rigs was complicated enough for me then i buy a Nasa radio o0. I bought my Crt ss 9900 v4 from Knights and it has the 10-11-12 metres so if anyone has the data file then please could you send it me? When i enquired about the cable they said its programed by them and i didn't need the cable? but they have put stickers on the sides of the radio like i'm going inside? Anyways i'm going buy the cable and i just need need the data file if anyone could help please let me know. Thanks
Ps, Alan Pilot technology is cool but sometimes its scary and i prefer the simple radios and a frequency is enough tech for me.

Hi Darren,
Yes that particular radio has a VFO mode like a proper HF set. I don't own one so thanks for the info. I don't think you need to open it to re program, they usually have a USB or similar port on the rear panel.

Master Virus Is your rig messed up ie frequency numbers out. I just bought a second hand 9900 and it was all over the place. After fiddling around a bit i could see why and it's like you say turning the knob can alter the freq and it stays where you leave it. Spent all afternoon correcting them today and changed that setting to change channel and not freq. If you get the cable you don't need to open the set as it goes straight in the back. I have saved the .dat file but not looked into how you load it yet but i hope i don't need to use it. It's easy to put them all to the correct freq i just printed out a chart with all the bands on and went through then one by one.

Hi Gary
Its version 4 of the software on mine and i just thought someone might have it? I have got the software but its not version 4 as mine has 10-11-12 metres and Knights have v4. I just thought loading a dat file is so easy than having to program it all myself. Thanks though Gary.
Alan Pilot
Thanks for the reply, as i said to Gary i like the easy life and a dat file would be easy, i know on the software i have you can save or load so that's really handy. But thank you Alan for replying, really appreciate it.

Hi Darren. Did you manage to get this file from Alan? I’ve got exactly the same problem with incorrectly programmed frequencies in my CRT SS9900. I think my radio also had a corrupted .dat file as a few other odd things where happening. I’ve done a full reset and it looks to have cured the strange problems I was having so now I need to reprogram my radio. Mine is also V4. Could you or Alan possibly forward the file on to me please if it’s not too much trouble. Regards. Graham.
