Hi Jeff,
Sorry I can't help out with a file for the UV-5 finding it frustrating enough to do the first time round for myself! I've got an Ailunce HD1 now which is so easy to program from the front panel that I don't bother with files anymore. Mind you on a visit to the daughter's new house I took the radio, popped in the local repeaters with ease then shouted out to be responded with absolutely nothing?? Not much action on some of the repeaters!
I hope your visit back to London is a good one.
All the best, Victor

Decided to take the Yaesu FT70D Hand held Victor. Better radio and easier to program by hand. I really don't know why I considered a BooBoofang.

Yaesu sounds like a better option.
Yeah, GB3PI is easily hit from my QTH.
I often listen out on GB3BF for a Ham friend in the mornings and that where the Baofeng excels at being small enough to pop in a pocket. The repeater is so close I can hear it without an antenna! (Best not transmit that way though. )
I still have one of the radios set up with a beam pointing to GB3TU on 70cm which often bags me London contacts too.
Let us know when you'll be over in the UK and I'll set up one of the radios for whatever repeater. Mornings and afternoons are when I'm usually in the shack so I can have a listen out for you.

Sounds great there Jeff and I hope you have a good visit.
Fingers crossed we bump into each other on one of the repeaters, always good to chat to a Charlie Tango.

Sure we will Victor. I will not be far from you. And should be able to hit those repeaters.

Sorry due to family all going down with Covid while in UK, (apart from me) I could not stay with my dad. So spent the 2 weeks in Enfield. Did not get any radio time. Back home now.

No worries there Jeff these things happen, I do hope everyone is well and healthy again.
I was knocked for six myself with Covid for about a week but had spent the last week and a half or so monitoring the repeaters. I'd almost forgot why I stopped listening to them, but after all the hilarious whistle/raspberry blowing, CB call signs as well as swearing on GB3TU I suddenly remembered!! (Plus the annoying git that constantly connects GB3PI to GB3PE randomly!)
I hope that your visit was alright otherwise.
All the best, Victor
