Subject: Sirio 2016 Sat Oct 08, 2022 10:35 pm
Hello chaps We'll just wondering if anybody has or did use a sirio 2016 and if they think there a good Aerial ? I've just put mine up minus the ground plane as I had problems with location and also I've been told they don't make a lot of difference would anyone agree ? Since having it up my signal has increased according to my mate but I'm still plagued by local noise which gets bloody annoying some days . I will say there a well made antenna like all sirio antennas and the coil is massive so question is do I use the ground plane and could I get a away using just 8 of them and not the full amount of 16 . All welcome to give your input on this 73s

The Sirio 2016 is made to be used with all 16, Why did you get the 2016 & not the 2008 or something without them, It will not work that well without them, The 2008 has longer ones coming from it, I Have had a 2016 & its got to be one of the best i have used on 11 meters, I Think it was better then the Sirio gain master i had .

Ive just installed this antenna and to be honest I had an issue with one of the rods fouling the mast which I could not remedy at least at this point in time, so I left one radial out, I don't think in real world terms one will make much difference or even a couple.
Could you perhaps not just loose one or two? I know plenty of Hams that have done similar

Hi there Well I've eventually got the radials on at last with help from the neighbour but so far not seen any difference apart from the swr going up as for receive not really noticed any difference but the noise level has dropped abit early days .

Hi Howard,
I would stick with it if I were you bud. They're supposed to be a fantastic antenna with all the radials if you can get them high enough off the ground.
Cheers
Simon.

Hi Simon Yeah I will if you could see where my antenna is situated you would to it's a bloody pain getting the thing up and down but not much else I can do limited as have no garden either so relying on having a patient neighbour . It's currently about 22 foot off the ground from base of antenna also have noticed the swr has gone up after the radials were put on ? SWR was around 1:1 before now 1:4 still low but not sure why it's gone up any ideas anybody ?.
