Attached the antron to a curtain pole then attached to the washing line pole in the back garden.
It picked up two mobile stations heading the same way and there were going over a hill and i was still hearing them from 4.7 miles away giving me nine pounds.
Home base from the same distance give me nine pounds so it's not a bad antenna and people have said my audio is really good.
Swr on some bands it doesn't even move and others its 1.1 on all forty channels but 27 and upwards it starts to climb.
Antenna was done at night under darkness and no one has said anything apart from the wife who said make sure to lift the coax up as i don't want the dustbin to damage the coax.
No antennas outside she said but she probably thought you sly git
Crt ss 9900 gets set to twelve o'clock because i wasn't breaking through people's skip on minimum.
Once i set it to midday i was giving people 9 plus and its gets warm on long overs, full power i would not risk on fm/am but ssb i would.
On ssb i've heard one station but i've been listening with the Antron 99 but just heard someone in the very back of the box.
Been asking for radio checks on ssb but no one's come back but i was on minimum power so that maybe why.
It's good to be back on the radio but tbh i would prefer an old radio less complicated but i suppose i will get use to it.
Oh and a sirio antenna will be the next step now that the Antron 99 is up. I know the Antron isn't too bad but to be honest i think a sirio would pick up better and transmit better.
Will have to get one and see
