What makes you think it's your radio? What mode were you using? If he was listening to you on a HF set using FM mode you probably will sound quiet at the receiving end.
73's Gary.

I've heard that about the CRT 6900 due to a poor mic fitted . Not sure of the McKinley.?
I have tried to get in on a group I regularly talk with using my 9900 and wasn't heard or quiet, (can't remember which now, the latter I think). Then realised I was on the wrong block.
It usually turns out to be something trivial after a bit of investigation I find
Yesterday the eldest grandson rang me but I couldn't hear him. Hung up, tried ringing him back, no joy, tried ringing the mrs phone, same problem . Grandson constantly ringing me with no voice. Everything getting very frustrating Mrs getting irate Surely not my phone I thought since it's new. ?
So I said to the mrs, why don't you ring him
Whilst she did, I discovered my Bluetooth earbuds I'd been using just before the call had not turned off as they should when returned to their storage case
