What makes you think it's your radio? What mode were you using? If he was listening to you on a HF set using FM mode you probably will sound quiet at the receiving end.
73's Gary.

Sure i have seen this talked about on here but can't find it. Do you take the foam out of the mic or something not sure.

I've heard that about the CRT 6900 due to a poor mic fitted . Not sure of the McKinley.?
I have tried to get in on a group I regularly talk with using my 9900 and wasn't heard or quiet, (can't remember which now, the latter I think). Then realised I was on the wrong block.
It usually turns out to be something trivial after a bit of investigation I find
Yesterday the eldest grandson rang me but I couldn't hear him. Hung up, tried ringing him back, no joy, tried ringing the mrs phone, same problem . Grandson constantly ringing me with no voice. Everything getting very frustrating Mrs getting irate Surely not my phone I thought since it's new. ?
So I said to the mrs, why don't you ring him
Whilst she did, I discovered my Bluetooth earbuds I'd been using just before the call had not turned off as they should when returned to their storage case
And she called me a pillock

McKinley and low audio on FM? No surprise there....
I opened mine and turned up the FM deviation by about a quarter turn of the pot. Problem solved.
There is a board photo online somewhere that shows you what the various pots do. It's easy and takes 5 mins. This is a known issue for McKinleys which is easy to sort. Many of them seem to come out of the Uniden factory with low FM deviation.

Paul

you often find different cb radio's have a different (ear) some cb's can hear radio's clear and others are tone deff, the mckinley may be perfect in its setting's and the other cb radio may be a bit deff, needing the user of the other radio to turn there volume up just to hear you, i was using my CRT ss 6900 n in a car last year and every one else said i had great audio, yet this other cb radio user said i was quiet ,
just remember the golden rule you can not please everyone,
if in doubt buy a power mic, set it to about 2 to 2 1/2 on the dial if the mckinley can have power mic's, then try again,
also bare in mind the other user may have a slight hearing problem,
to add to the 27.555 depends on the radio you use, a/b/c/d/e/f some use band e channel 12 and switch the radio to usb and set it to 27.555 and fine tune with clarifier and tune to hear people,

I've got the same problem, so out of curiousity, which way did you turn..... anti clockwise or clockwise?
