Albrecht AE 2990 AFS setup question

Hello not sure if anyone can help me with a few questions reference Albrecht AE 2990 AFS radio. As I am brand new to a CB handhelds I have had home base CB radios in the past, What I am trying to do is set it up as to where I can use it on these bands Super Low, Low, Mid Band, High, Super High and UK 40 (Muppets) but I have fiddled with it and tried expanding the radio via pins under PTT switch. I found I could get at one point all the bands listed above apart from I could not find UK 40 (Muppets). If I put it in just UK40 I lose the other bands I am after. If anyone can help me in any way, it would be a big help, thank you in advance.

when you do the connection between terminals 1 and 2 switch radio on and select code 3 that should give you the bands you want also the uk 40.
using code 3 gives you 450 channels (am/fm/ssb) at 4w if I remember and correctly read the instructions. (have to get mine out of cupboard and give it a power up)

Also if i remember right the read out is in frequencies which i prefer or think you can change to channel numbers.

Hi again, I've just checked out that in code 3 it covers from 25.165 to 29.655 Mhz.
also it does it in bands, have put link showing which band covers which frequency's below for you.

Hi, by the looks of the list your setting it PL setting which covers
Code PL: - CB Poland 40ch. AM/FM/SSB 4W "0" Raster 
you need to set it on code 3 not PL

i did set it to code 3 as when switched on it quickly flashes up code 3

have a look which band is it showing ? (A to J) there are 10 bands/blocks of frequencies.

no its only showing 1-50 to 40-50 and in frequency readout i get 26.9650 to 27.4050 and no A-J do you think i need to set it to a different code

leave it as code 3, on the display screen you have the frequency showing, to change bands/blocks A to J you press the ch9/ch19 button only, but it will show the frequency not the letters A to J.

Hi, yes as you've got it set now looks ok, just checked the bands of frequencies you've set it to the ones in the manual.

so you have all the frequencies covered.

Thank you very much I'll check against link u sent. I tried triple 5 usb tonight but nothing hered yet. Also am I correct the antenna is not that good and an upgrade would work better. What would you recommend please.

Forgot to say I still have to find UK 40fm

uk fm frequencies are 27. 601 to 27.991 mhz
you'll have to scroll to the frequencies because you've unlocked/expanded the radio to 450 channels fm/am/usb/lsb

Think you can buy a bnc adaptor to connect an PL259 plug from outside antenna or i bought a Albrecht 24" antenna for the radio a few years back now like this below.

have noticed the last couple of days it's been quite on 555.
you might find 555 better in morning till late afternoon.

Ok I'll try that but my asl is 512f if that helps

asl should be ok as I'm 522 ft asl. try it over the next week if conditions get better.  I'm not on radio this weekend because I'm working.

Ok I'll try over the next week on 27.555usb using antenna that come with it before ordering a new one and I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks again for helping 73s
