Hi Wayne. I used one a few years back and found it to be one of the better 10m / 11m / 12m set on the go at the moment. I got less noise and better incoming signals. I did the mod on mine to open it up to get 12m etc and a bit more power as standard it's a legal set. Only done 30w - 35w compared to the Superstar and Anytones. Also smaller in size and easier to place in the car compared to the other bulky sets.

Just had a Mckinley. Not a great fan. Low FM audio. Complicated menu system. Pushing 2 buttons and turn the power or mic gain to adjust. Not practical if you're mobile. Stick with the Albrecht. And it's not Chinese made like most of the sets on the market, it's German.

Hello Alan, Optima was initially created by the guys at Yeticom in New Zealand and Indonesia, i remember simonthewizard going on about this radio so i thought i would get one back than. Fits nicely away hidden in the car, mine is still as mint as it came out of the factory lol..Thats just me. Any 8 pin Icom wired microphone can be readily accepted without too much fuss not sure if you can do this with this one- hope this helps. Tony
