i have a crt 6900v with a silver rod 5/8 at home, my parents live a 10 minute walk from my home and wating to check on them over the radio whats the cheapest and easiest way todo so? they are elderly so no antennas up or nothing complicated for them at there end, TIA

You could make a home brew dipole from some wire for free. A cheap 2nd hand FM CB for around £25. Knights sell 2nd hand starting around £29, and they have a PSU for £14.50, a length of coax with plugs of course , about £9 and with postage your probably looking around £60.
Or you could get two Baofeng UV5R 's for about £43 with postage and program the PMR channels in.
I would check first, if you can, whether the UV5R can make the trip They can be hit and miss depending on terrain and buildings etc.

There's so much communication variety these days. I read recently that Facebook is now more for old farts I use none of them. It makes me chuckle when I read some hams calling cb'ers idiots and visa versa. There are idiots in all walks of life, there's just many many more on these social media platforms lol. Ok is facetime an Apple app? I don't buy apple products either, or use Amazon
