Hey Guys, my first post

I put this together as an easy way to get the correct antenna length. I hang this from trees, house, caravan etc.

Use of a couple of elastic hook bungees and some plastic electric fence tensioners. Hang it up and adjust to the right length, I’ve put 5 cm markings along my wires, then fine tune for swr.
My max length is for about 26Mhz which can be wound in for the whole band

Excellent stuff there Simon and an awesome first posting here at CT. Easy Antenna adjustment 1f44d

Little handy tips like these make what I call brilliant 'top pocket' ideas where you squirrel away such information in the old noggin and recall them later when needed.

Being able to 'wind' in or out to resonance/low SWR with such a setup is a great idea.

Thanks for sharing and posting up.

All the best,
Victor

Hi Simon. Thanks for sharing. A nice and simple but very practical idea that I am sure others here could utilize.

Bloody genius right there. Top marks Simon.

I've got two farm suppliers in my town so I'll have a look tomorrow for a couple.

Somewhere i've read that making an end loop in your wire antenna is a bad idea, can't remember where and why. Something about making a spool at the end?? But if it works, it works. Haven't seen plastic fence tensioners here in The Netherlands, just metal, but will try to locate them. The idea is just to good to ignore.

Thanks Karelgol, the way I read it during my amateur radio lessons was that it’s ok to coil at the ends but not in the middle, the measured length will be slightly different than the maths, just keep the dipoles equal

These are cheap and unthread when you release the tension so be careful, they do the job though:
