Repair coil wire silver rod

hello all I have a silver rod and one wire came off inside. I can only see one possible place to solder it back but it is not super clear. it look like the wire from centre pin maybe goes to a spot a few turns into the coil... the coil wire has orange colour but then a silver bit is exposed there approx 2 winds in. Like it is stripped of the orange stuff on the coil, a coating of insulation maybe.

Does that sound right, thank you soon then I can come on air again.

I cannot really see any other place where it can be soldered.

Yes, the centre connection of the coax will tap on to the coil part way up. It's usual to lacquer the coils on aerials as protection against corrosion etc. Re-do the soldering and you should be OK.

many thx, it is now working again, saved me £30, what happened is I plugged my silver rod in - I just set up up ona couple of poles in my garden every now and then and had a massive SWR. So I felt the centre pin was not meeting in the SO239. The centre part of the socket was getting pushed up by the pin up into the bottom of the antenna when I put the PL-259 in, instead of snug fit.

When I dis assmebled the bottom of the antenna the weak solder joint in middle of coil must have come off so I was left with that loose wire and it was not easy to work out where that wire needed soldering. thx for confirming it.

So I can 100pct confirm that wire goes to centre of coil, all working great again.
