Subject: Ceecom 10m Moxon and Moonraker Poles, etc... Thu Feb 15, 2024 7:03 pm
I recently ordered a Ceecom 10m Moxon antenna, 20 feet of 2 inch diameter aluminium tubing and a drive on mast holder.
The Moxon came direct from Ceecom and the aluminium tubing plus the drive on mast holder, from Moonraker itself.
I'm waiting for a break in the weather so that I can try it out. I'll be using it out of my backdoor, with a heavy wheelie bin holding the mast holder.

I'm using a GM3SEK based choke, at the feed point of the antenna. I'll use some existing Westflex 103 coax that I have.
I changed the M10 bolt in the mast base, for one that is easier to tighten by hand.

Looking good and I wish you well with it all there Ian.
I too am a fan of Ian's (GM3SEK) work with chokes following some of his advice regards 'cleaning up your shack' after some helpful comments from one of our members IvyMike.
Do let us all know how you get on with it all further as I'm sure I'm not the only one that enjoys a bit of antenna 'porn'.

I've used GM3SEK's "high band" design for this ferrite choke. Here's a screenshot taken from the NanoVNA, it includes markers for the common ham bands. On 28.550MHz, the choking is at -29.71dB.
I used RG142 coax and the ferrites from Ham Goodies.

Less than 10 ft above the ground for testing. This is the 10m only model, as I'm more interested in 10m FT8, SSB and SSTV.

It will tune up on 11m, but the ends have to be out and this isn't structurally sound. The 10m model was £30 cheaper than the 10m/11m model. The latter model is far better for the 11m band than the one I have.
