does a silver rod antenna need a metal pipe or can i mount it on a pvc pipe

Personally I wouldn't trust pvc pipe, it's too weak and very likely to fail in adverse weather. A bit of wind and it'll break. Go for an alumimium or steel pole (mine are steel, but they rust, lol). You'll be able to mount it higher and we all know height is might Smile
