11m conditions

Its seems the further North the better the conditions are ATM cos down South its fairly dismal hardly nothing dead infact lol.

Even the locals are quiet on UKFM, it really is like a ghost town 

Just off subject had my first Covid(bat flu) jab yesterday it's made me feel like cr@p been up all night that's why I'm on here at 04:20am cant sleep

You take it easy Martin. As with most vaccinations it can knock some of us for six, you should feel alright in a day or two mate.

Back on topic - No idea of current band conditions. Unfortunate side effect of having a radio room in the warmth of the house is that it's in the bedroom next to where the missus is still asleep. She'd batter me if I woke her with the sound of the radio!!

(No, headphones don't help, I'd wake her just with the click of the light switch..... can't wake her if I want to normally?!?! )

Thanks Victor for the concern ,dont feel too bad ATM, but I got told I may get some symptoms over the week after the injection. 

Back on subject, it's been very quiet TBH on the radio the only ones I actually hear are the 305 informal net ie: Fred in the Shed lot.
as for headphones they are alright to use but cos I've have a hearing problem in one ear 40% hearing in it I  find myself shouting with them on for some reason lol , so I use to wake the Mrs up early in morning when I had my station in the house and I  was downstairs too

Thanks John for the concern mate , well  I had the jab on Wednesday afternoon which I think was the Oxford one , felt OK after having it was told I might get a couple of after affects over the following week ,got home and my arm started to hurt a bit then I felt a bit tired the Mrs ordered  Domino's for us and I just couldn't eat it which not normal for me lol I went to bed about 8pm next I knew it was Thursday, I slept on and off all day Thurs didn't want to eat anything wasn't even hungry, now I've woken up at 03:41 and come on the forum cos I'm I'm almost wide awake lol ,I just hope I dont get anymore after affects. 

SORRY  all to go off topic but as most of us are of the age to be getting the Bat Flu jab on the forum  I thought I would let you know .

Don't worry about the 'off topic' Martin. You're not wrong, a lot of us are 'old farties' are either going through, or will be going through the vaccination program and some of us will no doubt be left feeling a little rough from it.

Hope you feel better soon mate and get settled back with your sleep.

The couple opposite us had the jab last week but got no side effects.
Never had Dominoes apart from a set in a box. 
Not got them round here well i don't think so not seen one.

,well I've just got up and feel alot better than I was and ready for a sausage and bacon sandwich,  I hope that's the end of the after affects because there was loads on the list they gave me , I dont know if the makes of vaccines after effects are so beware all .

might go and do a bit of radio cant beat listening to static white noise LOL

I know a few people who have felt a little rough after the Astra Zenica jab. Sausage and bacon sandwich is guaranteed to make you feel better.

No distance today, but I wasn't looking out for it really.

Plenty of local action in the afternoon, as was there yesterday - it seems everyone picks up the mic on Thursday over here and gives a shout out. Actually, it also seems like a trend for someone to give a 'good morning' on the CB call channel and get a bunch of 'good mornings' back (very civil I'm sure you'll agree, not sure it'd happen that way on UK19!). So there are lots of guys tuned in around here, but not always answering as they will maybe pick who they want to chat with at times.

It use to be like that back in the late 90's early 2000's on the radio here in the UK people saying morning on the calling channel,  I  myself use do it on SSB T5 back then use call out "GOOD MORNING DX LAND"( using about 400watts) that was when the 27:555 was always packed with people all from different countries.

I remember back in the day shouting out "Good morning all" on 19 and getting a resounding response.

Also used to call "1-9 for a Roger" and get an array of roger-beeps coming back at you with the odd vocal "Roger".
(K-tones, singles and Hygain/Lafayette 'pee-weets' like a CB dawn chorus!)

Some of us more annoying buggers had a 'roger-beep' box or board selecting different beeps at will and often stringing them together!


Those were the days eh Martin? When the CB bands were full!

That's why it can sound so miserable to hear nothing but static. 
Us old farts remeniscing about the 'good old days' like an octogenarian stood on the edge of town saying "This all used to be fields don't you know".

Except it's like a once bustling and thriving city being demolished before your very eyes.....


Back on topic - the ruins of CB city still remain quiet.

Across town on the BR68 express the skyscrapers of Ham-dom have offices lit.
Luckily some of them travel out of town once in a while to pick up a CB brick, carefully balancing it on another. The 'true blue' CBer sat amongst the rubble gives a little smile and says, "Good morning", and the helpful stranger purses his lips together and whistles a little, "Pee-weet".

It's true Victor what you say mate , but when I use do that call out good morning DX land I  would add sometimes London calling or 26 div call and I would always get a response even if it was pi55 off 26 div from someone lol ,I always got a response of some sort when calling on the 385 when that was alive with Stateside 2div  ,then I would just hello DX land UK calling ,I miss those days not like now static or some idiot ,TBH I wouldn't mind hearing a idiot ATM at least you the radio is working LOL

Dead up here from 26-28MHz today. If it weren't for the birdies I'd think my antenna was disconnected!

Not much on the other bands TBH, the usual FT8 whale music and the odd Italian beaming several kilowatts on 20m. Might listen out there today as not much going on......unless the competition stuff starts up and I'll find something else to do!

Had a listen this morning nothing about on SSB  or on the Mids, cant be bothered with whats on the Muppets TBH I don't really use those anyway , got useall weekend visit of the all the grandkids so might get my eldest grandson to wash my car if it dont rain, well it will be a bit more exciting than radio ATM LOL,
You saying you remember London Calling it may have been me cos some of the old members on here up North use to say they could hear me calling which I thought are you sure cos I cant hear any of those saying they could hear me until some sent me a recording I didnt believe it, so you never know Victor you may have heard me a long time back mate .

The good old days, Victor. I remember shouting 1-9 for a Roger and getting the same responses. 

Talking of the old days. Does anyone remember echo chambers? Lol. People running with loads for reverb to the point they were unintelligible.

Echo chambers John BIG PITA ,theres are few who still use them around my area on SSB so you cant imagine what they sound like but they think they sound the bees nees lol most to me sound like the train station announcer that nobody can understand.

Lol, Martin. They must sound terrible on ssb. They were bad enough on fm. I bet they do sound like the train announcer.
