Started on cb back in the early 80s. I started with a legal uk40 radio and quickly discovered ssb dx.

I know this is an old post but, as a new member, I was looking for things around York and found this one
I was in Haxby using the handle 'Gravedigger' with a Cobra 19X, moving up to a Midland 4001 and then a Hi-Gain 5 with a rather annoying Roger Beep!
The 'handles' I remember from those days around Haxby: Sleepy Dylan, Captain Spiker, Lady Leo, Midnight Lady, Dosser Bill, White Hunter...and that's about it.

Hi John. Just found this post. I wasn’t far from you. In Chocolate City and on the air from 78 -84. Moved to Portsmouth after that and around the country for work. My handle was and is Tristar. Being a teenager and passing my car test at the time meant traveling through to Haxby, Hull, and Leeds many times so who knows we may have met on the airwaves. Yep I’m still on but a little older and greyer!!
