So, tomorrow going to test drive the new 2021 Jeep Cherokee. Pretty sure we will buy it.
Now my wife hates radios in the car, house, anywhere really. So looking for a real small one that can be tucked away. I see some of the Chinese ones are small. Anyone have one they can recommend? Or even one of the main manufactures. Don't want a hand held.
Last Autumn we bought a new caravan. So want to get HF in there, Need small again to keep it out of the way.
If the country / Border open up this year, plan on getting around this continent.
I think I can even work it so I can work from the caravan. Can stay away so much longer then.

I bought this one and couldn't believe how small it was and how well it worked. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Retevis-Transceiver-Rotatable-Microphone-Programming/dp/B076Q96S71/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?adgrpid=67512954851&dchild=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAnKeCBhDPARIsAFDTLTKCMVHq2BYWVTwlkcmm4XvcmoNVPZ2LEOFGb2DQPVZ62XDmfvfye1AaAqd6EALw_wcB&hvadid=310557540219&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1007441&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=17520618121477985964&hvtargid=kwd-393985702705&hydadcr=5053_1827785&keywords=retevis+rt95&qid=1615471042&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExSzA3RjBKQlNaN0tXJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwOTUxMDk0MUdNOFFOOU5BTFc2RSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNzM3ODc4R0w2WVdZN1pHS1VRJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

The modern radios can be quite tiny Jeff.
Some of the modern CB's and VHF/UHF stuff aren't much bigger than the old Dunhill flat 20 cigarette packets!!
I'm more of an old fashioned, serviceable, (and visible!), parts inside user but have been blown away by modern stuff. Even impressed with some of the hybrid/SDR performance.
Unfortunately I can't give you any first hand experience......my wife doesn't mind a radio around, but she'd KILL me if I spent the sort of money some of them cost!

Not meaning to jump off topic but how is that little Retevis RT95 Alan? Been eyeing them up recently

It's quite readable the screen to be honest Victor. Can see the screen better on it than i can see the Baofeng it's nice and clear/bright and colour sort of red/blue/green/white. Chirp (free) to program it ??? not touched it since October.

That one looks kinda interesting. Seems to have OK reviews... Can't get one here in Canada, So emailed the Chinese distributer. Wait and see. Good news is, today we ordered our Jeep Cherokee. Pick it up on Tuesday!

I have a similar issue with the wife's car that I want a radio in for when I drive it.
So, small remote head radio, where the mic can plug into the face, and the body goes under the front seat. All your see in a decent install is the end of the cable the head plugs into when not fitted/in use, and you could use any manner of suction mount or cup holder phone mounts for the face.
I'll probably resurrect my old IC-208 for the purpose.
In her car, I'll probably also use a glass mount antenna on the rear window too, so it can all be removed until I drive it for a longer trip.

I have a crt 279uv, good little radio, my only gripe with it is that it only has 2 power modes: low - 5w and high - 25w (I think). Put part from that, the thing is absolutely tiny! Even smaller than the baofeng and I think, but might be wrong smaller than a retevis? I might be wrong though.
I am however thinking of selling the crt and getting somthing that has a 10w mode. If you're interested let me know otherwise it might end up in ebay haha

Just looked at that radio. It was the first one i bough but bought the one in the picture the same day. Never opened the package for that one and sold it on the bay unopened.
