Much appreciated Neal mate.
I've worked every band I'm licensed for from 160m to 6m on this one bit of wire now, with over a hundred contacts each on 80/40/20m (plus over 50 on each of 30/17/15/12/10m) and it shows what you can do even with a modest indoor antenna.
That electric lawnmower lead from a skip that I used to make the doublet antenna in the loft was the find of the century for me!
(Will catch up on 6m with the rarer openings but 160m still seems harder to get a reply to despite PSK reports from Europe and further afield?????)

Nowhere near grey line time for either of us, completed QSO straightforward with no repeating, and he confirmed straightaway. Solar cycle conditions must be getting real good now as my 20m element is the worst tuned of of all the fan dipole legs. Made me have as smile on as I set off on my walk to work
