News............Buxton Bash cancelled....... Yorkshire Bash details coming soon. ........26CT000 Club Station will be active again
Maybe it would be helpful to members if when posting contacts we include the mode just so it gives a true reflection of band conditions , I say this because even on a dead flat band I can always RX some ft8
Good idea Craig on adding the mode used to the contacts made, that will be useful. But still, regardless of mode, well done Alan on the low power New Zealand contact, I bet you're well chuffed with that one.
Surprised me how far you can get on 5w on ft8/ft4. Wouldn't have believed it if i hadn't done it myself. I get qsl cards and they where using 250+w and our signal reports are about the same. 20mtr of wire up 16ft in the air works for me.

First 15m contacts of 2022 today. SSB, 10w
SV9GPV - Crete PV2K - Brazil
I know people here say Brazil is the South American Italy as far as radio contacts go, but I haven't managed many contacts in to there myself so am happy to start the new year with one.
An interesting one that got a way was CT1EHI. Only Portugal, but was interesting as he was operating AM on 21.400. So many people were trying to get through to him using SSB and he had to keep correcting them. The AM on my radio seems to not have the punch that I have on SSB, I couldn't make myself heard through the crowd.

Bulgaria and Russia on SSB, 10w today plus..
CT1EHI - Portugal on AM, 3w
I got through this time. Was the first to call back to him today when he QSY'd to 21.4 AM again. I measured my G90 on a dummy load last night and the AM peaks at 7w, absolute pants compared to it's SSB power. It doesn't bother me though as I prefer going low. Turned it down to 3w peak just for fun and got in to him straight away. Very happy, and makes it more satisfying that he was running power and has a 'life is too short for QRP' pic on his QRZ page

Never ever had a contact with that country on any mode or any band, or even from previous years on 11m. So very well done Mike to get that one in your log!

Well done on Reunion, I had to use 80watts FT8 to work there.

Heard a few strong stations from Indonesia the last couple of days, but I have not been able to break their pileups.
Just one for me today on this band. SSB, 10w
7X3WPL - Algeria
A radio club station. I spoke with Aicha, a YL. Check their QRZ.com page out.. I wish there would of been clubs like this one in my area when I was younger.

Well done Neal and thanks for posting the details, was an absolute joy to read their QRZ page.
I wish we had more clubs like this now!
Always a pleasure to see some of the clubs around the world that make a success out of it all with YOTA activities and comfortable inclusion of YL operators etc. The future of Amateur Radio depends on the next generations that come along.
