Hi forum members,
I'm curious to know if anyone has come across any repeater stations for the PMR446 range of frequencies...?
The reason I asked is I cam across a PMR446 transceiver, that was design as a watch. That had a parrot repeater option.
So repeaters are available for PMR446, but I've never come across one in the wild.

Let's hope not, eh?
A repeater would definitely break the "does not cause interference problems for other users" PMR446 Ofcom rule.
You want to use a repeater? Get a Radio Amateur licence. (Or listen to one and find out what repeater abuse is all about!)

Yeah have to agree with Vic on this one.
In the spirit of the PMR446 bands intended use repeaters would be totally inappropriate. Remember many small businesses and shops use these frequencies for short range comms.
Do consider achieving your ham ticket (If you haven't already) there's so much radio spectrum to play with, I'm sure you'd not regret it. From Long Buckby you'd have to put up with a lot of me!! Lol!!

I know your village well as I used to have a boat, is the chip shop still going? Also are you able to get on the 70 cm the GB3ME repeater from there?

Yeah the chip shop is still going. No problem I can hit both Rugby and Daventry repeaters with my handheld. TBH I spend most of my radio time on 20 & 40 meters, HF is my favourite place to dwell.

I've got a scanner but it doesn't go down two HF. I have trouble listening into the rugby repeater for some unknown reason.

Hi Peeta
I'm going to sound like a hypocrite now, but I'm with Victor. PMR doesn't need any kind of repeaters.

Hello avid reader of mine,
I respect Victor's opinion on the matter. However I do think it would be nice to have the pmr446 version of a hammy repeater. They exist usually in the form of a parrot repeater but I've never come across one operating in the wild.

So set up your own. Parrot repeaters are going to be the only option on 446, but they're cheap enough to have a go. The channel seperation isn't enough on 446 for a proper repeater, you'd need another frequency at least a meg or two away else you'd have a job to set the cavaties properly (to seperate RX/TX).

Hello Peeta (Mr Scientist)
Take a look at this video from 2016. It was Simon CT 941 and myself using a parrot repeater that was based in France.
I will suggest that people time how long it takes to send an over and get a reply.
Does PMR want to lose 1 or more of it's 16 channels to parrot repeaters?
All the best
