It was nice to have a few 10m QSOs today John, but unfortunately no points gained. I was using my full 10W. Had to look up what an Albrecht 2990 was.. looks a great handie, but don't think I can afford one a the moment
Well done on Monaco! I failed. He went QRT the first time I called him Also heard GW1MNC strong on a brief bit of very short skip, just over the water from you I think, but he went QRT the first time I called him too
I am going to go portable this evening, first time properly for a quite while. Mostly to have a little go at the RSGB FMAC 144MHz short contest (if I've got the role-up j pole measurements right, haven't even tried it yet), but will stick up a wire for HF afterwards to see what's about. Maybe I might get a point for Wales yet...
Neal, the little Albrecht 2990 is really a CB handheld that can be widebanded for 10 & 12. It has some annoying issues, but is also the only real SSB traditional shaped handheld available for HF. I had my first QSO with it outside of Barnstaple earlier today, working II3WRTC on 28459.5. The radio kicks out just over 2 watts, so I was happy with a 57 report, but I was using the T2LT rather than a whip attached to the radio. The best QSO I’ve seen on You Tube with a 2990 is an Italian working Brazil, he was standing on a beach using just a telescopic antenna! So it can be done if conditions are favourable.

Well done John, you're certainly racking them up today!
I'm afraid I've got a confession to make in that I got a bit sick of calling out my call sign over and over not getting anywhere so pretty much gave up. I know Neal has done incredibly well with his 10 Watts but he also has that tenacity to keep calling out.
Just wanted to say well done to you all.
(I never was much for one with fishing either. )

I reckon you'd manage at least one or two if you put a few calls out today Victor, E skip conditions have been great. I missed a chunk of time in the middle of the day though as was at a dog show in Cheltenham. It's days like these a handie like John's would be very useful to have. Oh well.
Can't get John out of my wing mirrors today!! Going to be tipping my hat to him as he passes shortly by the looks of it.
*tries to make myself appear wide to stop him passing with a little one*...

Neal, I don’t think I’m going to catch you up unless I stick a pin through your coax!
I was calling OH2HQ for ages earlier, but couldn’t get heard. That’s probably the only European I can still reasonably expect to log out of the ‘ easy’ ones. Any others I’m going to have to be lucky with…

Saw it pop up on DX maps. Well done! You might not need those pins yet
Do you have Canada for this challenge? I haven't. Saw the maps when I got back after the dog thing today showing lots of US and Canada hops over to our side. I got back to NU1AW (seemed the last remaining US station on the band) with a lot of work, but have logged US already for this so no points. I heard one from Canada go back to a UK station, but I didn't manage to get into that one. East coast Canada could be one to listen for tomorrow if conditions are similar.

Not got Canada ITL this year yet. It’s going to be a struggle for me to get many more. Back downstairs now, so away from my logbook but I think I still need Estonia, Belarus, San Marino & Turkey. Definitely need HB0, OH0, TF, OY, GW, GU, GJ & GD

Don't know if you have any free time today, but if you do then Belarus could be possible for you. I worked 4 from there yesterday, one of which EW1I who is currently operating just above 28.5 right now.
Haven't worked an OH0 on 10m at all to date, only QSO has been on 20m. An OY station was on for a long while the other day but it was at the same time I chose to spend the time to focus on the 12m Malawi station, so I missed out then.
Good luck to everyone today.

11.05z Here in Barnstaple the band is literally swamped with Spanish stations at +10 signals, I can’t remember ever hearing so many so strong
