Just a heads up to you guy's if your not aware but its the HF World Champs this weekend so finding a clear frequency at that time could be a problem , although to be honest I've never listened to 40m in a contest so might be ok at that time.73

Excellent stuff chaps,
I've popped our contact on QRZ Craig I hope to get you all in there soon.
iHi Gary and I’ve logged it on qrz to matey , on checking it’s not showing as a match because you have logged it as a 20m contact not a 40m am sure you will be able to go back in and edit itÂ
Great to catch under difficult band conditionsÂ

Nice to speak at last Craig and also get you in my QRZ log. I could hear M0ZMX Mark and M6MQZ Moz but not well enough for a chat voice was up and down then that station came just below and that was that. The day we can all make that contact is coming and soon i hope. Craig the station you had the first contact with was 59 solid witch gave me hope of a chat with our Victor but not to be but it will happen one day. A big thanks to all for trying.

Me too Alan mate. Â
I'll keep trying and grabbing those 'willing' volunteers to stick bits of wire up for me.
(The latest fell down and typically after my latest volunteer disappeared!!)

Playing aerials myself this afternoon Victor. Came across one on the net and had the bits so i made a 3EDP but my RigExpert don't like it one bit lol. A big fail but will look what i got wrong tomorrow think i might have o cut a BIG chunk off. So simple but i can get it wrong if anybody can and i did.

What is that '3EDP' antenna Alan? Do you have a link?
It was my attempt at an end fed long wire that fell down but I'd used thin wire to make it less visually conspicuous.Â
Today I should be able to switch between the doublet and magnetic loop, (after remaking it), as well as two different antenna matchers and see how we do.Â
If at first you don't succeed.....buy a budgie! (Geddit? Budgie? Suck-Seed. Ah, the old ones are......well just old ones and not that funny. Â )
It's great that everyone keeps trying and some have had contact which is awesome. I'm just grateful for the opportunity and it gives me that push to play with my setup a lot more than I'd do otherwise. Â
We'll get there yet and well done to all for joining in.

Ah, the 'W3EDP'. Â
(That first letter makes all the difference. Â )
I've been looking at all sorts Alan including verticals and 'shorty-forty' type affairs. The equidistant as well as short front and back gardens here don't help let alone this gammy leg.Â
Even looked into getting the 'station manager' to help me setup a temporary operation out in the garden. 'Gardens On The Air' (G.O.T.A.)........could catch on!

No go for me here Alan mate. S6 of noise with only the occasional Continental popping through.
Thought my antenna might have been underperforming but same thing on the local webSDR's.

I'm up for trying anytime anyone wants Alan but it all obviously relies on conditions.
I'm desperately working on antenna options as it would thrill me no end to catch any of you lads on air. (Might drag me away from this current FT8 obsession too! )

FT4/8 does grab you i think but we are not all the same. FT4 i like best but i will go over to the talking side now and again. The day will come Victor when we all make contact.

I’ve only just noticed this thread
40 seems better in the evenings recently down here in Glorious Devon. But I can certainly have a listen Sunday mornings if a + or - frequency is suggested
