Subject: Scarlet Warrior on the van. Tuning question. Sun Jul 17, 2022 5:16 pm
Hello, I've just put a body mount and a scarlet warrior on the van and now it's time to tune it. The specs say 26 - 28 MHz but what should my centre frequency be to tune it being as I spend most of my time on freeband, CEPT and only a small amount of time on muppet band? I just can't decide what frequency range I should be choosing.

I would optimize it for 27.000 for its lowest SWR reading and its SWR readings are the highest at 26.000 and 28.000. You can always adjust it if you find you spend more time on the UK 'muppet' band or 'freebanding' down on the Super Low
I have the same antenna and I use it as one of my homebase 11m antenna's for my legal 4watt operations with my Uniden 100 and 200, occasionally I use my CRT6900 on it and it works well.
Hope this helps.

Occasional traffic, nothing to shout home about (in my locale at least).

Thanks for that. I'll tune to 27 and take it from there.

You're going to spend the vast majority of your time between 27-28MHz. If you're planning on getting your amateur licence centering on 27.500 would cover all CB, both Euro, UK and 555, and the most active SSB portions of the 10m band too.

Thanks for that. So many lovely frequencies to choose from and so little bandwidth to play about with.

I've got 1 on my works van on a mag mount, I use it on a ranger 2950 , it's tuned for the top half of the 27 MHz band so I get 10m ham band , I've also got a 24 MHz ham pro mobile on another mag mount , both a ntennas are fed through an antenna switch into the ranger , I think the warrior is a cracking antenna for the price

There's no 15m on it , it's just 24mhz to 30 MHz straight through

But there is. Where the jumper it there are 4 pins 2 have the jumper on. Find a second jumper the ones from an old motherboard or hard drive fit and put it on the other 2 pins. 21 to 30MHz. Well that works on the 2950s with the orange screens but not on the ones with blue screens.
