Followon test on Baofeng GT-3TP

Couple of weeks ago i did a test on this radio (PMR CH8). I was just outside Sheffield on a Hill 1191ft asl looking over sheffield. just using Hi power (8watts) and standard rubber duck on this radio and hit Doncaster 25 miles away crystal clear and lighting up all bars on the other stations meter. So happy

Last night i went to the top of my road only 850ft asl with my home made dipole held in hand above my head. Spoke to the same station again (as they are on all the time)  and picked up and hit another couple of stations in the Doncaster area one was on a binatone standard PMR radio. so all good and I'm a happy man


just now got to make some poles and stuff to put it on  

great contacts on the pmr I use a home made antenna with 3 ground plains and with crt7u mobile radio and the antenna on a sliding 20ft pole fixed to a fence with some watts , was getting some great contacts up 70 miles and a few in between. I use some great coax from knights very low loss , and all contacts on pmr is a great contact , but as lots say hight is might

Thats some good miles there. luckly i live in sheffield which if people dont know its 7 hills around me all averaging 800ft to 1200ft asl. and the biggest is 1200ft asl and only a couple of miles down (or do i mean UP) the road. and i live at one of the highest points in a village just outside the city, so your defo right hight is might
