Hi Lee. It is a bit quiet on here at the moment, but I guess it's the time of year when a lot of people are doing festive and new year stuff.
I didn't want to answer for the sake of answering as I don't use one. However, soon after getting my foundation ham licence I spent a lot of my initial radio time on 10m (and still do) and another ham operator on here was getting a lot of far DX contacts with people I were not even hearing. When I asked what antenna they were using, it was one of these. So, must be pretty good.
I don't think you'd be disappointed if you decide to put one up. Sadly, although they are compact for a 10/11m beam antenna, it's still too large for me to even think about having up permanently at my QTH. If you get one then do let us know how you get on.

As SangueG said. It's pretty quiet probably due to Christmas. I did see your post but couldn't really offer any feedback due to lack of knowledge concerning said antenna. (And probably got distracted by a grandchild asking questions, another crawling towards something precarious . Or the Mrs asking me to open a jar, carve some meat or carry something. ) Sometimes it can take a day or three to get a response on here but there is a wide variety of knowledge and experience so patience is a virtue. (Plus the bump option as you discovered)
Anyway, for my tuppence worth. As you probably know, what works for some people/location can be different for others.
Here's a link that looks useful. (Have you considered a homebrew antenna ? )
I have made my own antennas in the past many years ago you usually have a few bits knocking around to get you started but this will be a new install and i have thrown all the bits so it's messing around ordering everything, super yagi have them at a fair price i will just order one,
Thanks for the link i will have a look through it, yes i know it's Christmas and people are doing their thing have a good one.

No worries, make sure you buy a balum and don't use a dirty balum. The antenna and balum is from here https://www.innovantennas.com/en/baluns-why-do-i-need-one.html. I was lucky to get this 2nd hand. I have my mast strapped to the kids trampoline and use it as an earth, seems to work a treat for me. ( Dont forget to use some seize lub on the ends when you put the bits together so you can take apart for a service) let me know how you get on, make sure the wife doesn't hang her washing on it lol...

Not sure why you would need a balun an air choke will suffice

Unless you have the correct equipment to test your air choke you don't know if it's fit for purpose, same could be said for a balun,
So it's important to buy from a reputable company like super yagi.
This video is interesting regarding balun.

It should be a 1 to 1 aerial unless its been built wrong plenty of air choke charts on the net something like 5 winds around a 4 and a half inch former will probably do

It's really up to the operator take a gamble winding a air choke or buy something that's proven and tested from a reputable company,
Personally the last thing i want to do is to cause interference so i won't be taking a gamble with an air choke.

Some like to purchase with a certain feeling of reassurance whilst others gain knowledge and build their own often saving some cash.
The choice is ultimately up to the individual.

Sorry about the link Victor please remove if against rules,
Yes i get the point of making your own gear i have done the same in the past self satisfaction,
With something as important as causing interference i would not risk it unless i had the correct equipment to test my work, you will soon have the FCC on your case if you get it wrong.

I make my own kit like this now. Even made some antennas and sold them for the cost of parts used never any problem or interference. The only interference i have given out since returning to radio was to the Openreach guy with some sort of listening probe stuck in his ear. We had a good laugh about it and i stopped transmitting for 5 minutes while he found the wires he was looking for. He then came in the shack fascinated that he could hear the world on my bit of wire running down the garden. FCC did they ever bother.

No worries Lee and on this occasion albeit a little tentatively it has some bearing on the discussion to hand so I'll leave it. There are many suppliers of such components and we wouldn't want the forum to be used for, or seen as 'drumming' up trade for anyone in particular especially for free.
Nowadays with affordable versions of Vector Network Analysers and such the home constructor can be assured of operation as well as specification of self constructed devices. Thankfully due to the work and diligence of many radio operators & constructors out there some may simply replicate their work verbatim and be assured of successful operation.
Steve Hunt G3TXQ (SK) was one of those wonderful radio enthusiasts who shared his work and findings for free to help other operators enjoy their radio pursuits. Unfortunately some may have copied his work for profitable means but there will always be 'consumers' of such products for a multitude of reasons.
