Subject: KPO DX5000 PLUS -12m Is this Correct? Sun May 28, 2023 3:48 am
Hi Guys
I kind of found this by accident when having issues with programming software. Using KPO software v7.01 i programmed the frequency 24.715 into the rig and sat it back in the car with antenna disconnected; I went back up road to QTH and set the power on my Icom to 3 watts and the KPO is RXing on the frequency 24.71500 Mhz Ive not tried it the other way round yet and TX on the KPO , Just wondering if anyone else has saw this or if its a glitch, as the radio spec says it does from 25.615Mhz upto 30.105Mhz. So if it transmits on 24.xxxMhz then its a 10/11 AND 12m rig i would think ...anyone else saw this as there aint too much out there on this rig and it took me ages to find the software to program it.
Cheers and Beers

The old Ranger 2950 with the jumpers configured right would cover 10-11-12- and 15m bands so it might just work.

Hi There,
Thanks for the reply and hope you're well.
It works....And Transmits on 12m as well. I just put a call out there and recorded it on the SDR. Excellent.
The radio was sold as a KPO DX5000 Plus (New SMB board) I got a few of them for myself and pals up here in Scotland a while back as we wanted similar to the SS6900 but without that big bright blue screen that lights your face up like a smurf when out mobile at night.
Although it says KPO DX5000 the embedded message on the software reads:
AT5555
24.715 - 30.105Mhz.
This was bought from Thunderpole just last year. So anyone that's got one will have 12s as well.
Regards

I've read the v7 board versions of the 6900 and the DX5000 can do 12m. The v7 has been out quite a while now, so there's a good chance that is what you've got.
If you've got an older one and managed to work some magic, that would be amazing. But even if it is a v7 that is capable it's great you've highlighted here so that more people know as some places are still advertising them as only 25.615 up.. don't know why, maybe shops still have old stock they need to move on before changing ads.
Hope you enjoy the 12m on the radio, I have had some nice QSOs on that band. I guess you use the band already as have just stalked your very nice QRZ page it looks you're well setup for it.

Hello SangueG,
Thanks for replying and for the Info on the radios. I had known newest SS9900 was capable as my pal had one. I should've known the other similar radios would've been similar as the manufacturers can't help themselves really can they.. Same chassis etc... Just fire a different label on.
Yeah I've had a mess about the bands and modes its good to shift about. Data has been my thing for a while. We had local rag chews and nets, a music playing jammer caused everyone within range of me to give up on radio.
So it's 11m JS8 and the odd bit of DX managing to break through this flare just now..
Hopefully more people who are interested in the other bands see the post as you say, and get use out of the extra band if they didn't know already.
IMO The KPO models are pretty good rx and tx audio is decent... My pals and my own had a problem of the display glitching between frequencies but apart from that it does well for in the car.
Anyway cheers again for letting me know..
Regards
