No worries there Alan mate. We landed up on 7.185MHz as that was were Graeme could be heard calling from.
Lot of Continental stuff my side and there were a couple of 'tune up' moments. (Why would anyone key up CW over an ongoing SSB QSO?????!!)
Conditions weren't the best especially with my QRP levels but good that at least contact was made and enjoyed by a few of us. I'm still amazed I've made such contact that I would find hard to replicate anywhere else.
There's always next week.

Interesting times last night.
Tried various frequencies but due to my noise level S7 - S8 it was difficult to hear anyone.
John managed to push through but was a little quiet, couldn't hear Mike at all. Ended up utilising the Web SDR at Hackgreen on the PC with a set of headphones to listen to the guys and managed a QSO while the propogation allowed.
I even heard a really big mouse scratching at the back of the box but was unable to make out the audio clearly to have a QSO, sorry Victor, mabey next time.
One thing is for sure, I found it very strange listening to my own conversation in the headphones a split second after I said something Good to hear that my audio was clear though.
Fingers crossed for next week chaps

Ha! Ha!
Really glad you picked up at least something from my end Graeme and thanks ever so much for joining in to make it all happen. (That goes for everyone that tried even if you didn't manage contact.)
I've had 40m FT4 contact as far away as Trinidad & Tobago recently which was quite exciting but there's nothing more thrilling than hearing the voices of fellow radio enthusiasts that frequent this here Charlie Tango no matter how near or far.
Look forward to giving it all a go again and thinking of ways I can maybe improve my station.

May be next time when the summer noise has dropped a bit. My noise was about S7 tops but made it hard to hear everyone clearly all the time. My Hustler does well on DX so close stations it most likely goes clear over the top.
The tx rx delay is quite off putting but I'm used to it after playing with satellites. QO-100 has quite a longish delay and gets quite interesting.

It should be a weekly thing Darren if everyone is up for it so do try to join in if you can as the more the merrier is always a good thing. (I'm surprised I made contact at all and can't thank everyone involved enough for the opportunity!)
I have a hectic day ahead of me but will do my best to join in again later today and please forgive me if I don't make it.

Good to speak again Graeme. Alan, I heard your callsign just once, but not strong enough to hold a QSO. Also logged M7GWJ, Steve, QRZ.com says he’s in Hertfordshire. Does anyone know if he’s a CT?

Sorry I didn't make it gents, my day was more strenuous than expected.
John, I'm not sure if your M7 contact is a CT member but we do have rather a lot of Steve's in our call sign lists. It looks like he's a recent Foundation holder although long time SWL and glad that he made contact with you. I know that my voice contact with your good self boosted my confidence no end and will always be very grateful for that as I'm sure would be many others lucky enough to speak to you.
Here's hoping well for further 40m nets.

That scaffolding has a lot to answer for. Had to re-locate our tv aerial last night. It's in the loft but low down well it was now it is as high up as it will go. Loft is lower than my wire as we live in a bungalow. Can't see the scaffolding coming down this year the way they are going so far.

What on earth are they doing next door Alan? Going by the photo it doesn't look like the scaffolding isa round anything. Hopefully you don't have a large construction going up to block your views and signals.
Will try to get home from work on time to have a go at joining in with this net soon.

The big house as we call it next door is for temporary homeless sort of like if you fall out with parents and they can stay for 3 months i think it is. It's a big old house but they are extending it just 2 storey to make 6 more rooms well i think it's 6. It's only about 20ft wide that's why it looks all scaffolding but there is a gap in the middle lol.

I had a listen around 7180 this evening about 7PM local, but the band was heaving with Dutch, Germans, and French stations. I’ll try again next week.

You'll have to forgive me Gents for a no show.
(I would have been half way through the second family movie with my five granddaughters and grandson all crammed on a three seater sofa eating popcorn! )
Will try again next week.

Get some headphones on Alan and listen to that lovely FT8 warble, I actually find the sound quite therapeutic.

TV aerial going up tomorrow on a 10ft pole. Going to put it on the gable end of the bungalow and a pully to hoist my endfed up on there. Might just clear the top of the scaffolding fingers crossed.
